This privacy notice is to let you know how the BrowserOS web browser collects and processes your personal information.
This notice provides you with information regarding your rights and explains how, why and when we collect and process your personal data.
If you have any questions or want to exercise any of your rights set out in this privacy notice, please contact us at [email protected] .
About us
We are BrowserOS Software Limited. Our registered office is at 303 Twin Dolphin Dr, Suite 600, #6164, Redwood City, CA, 94065, US. We can be contacted by email at [email protected] .
What this notice covers
This privacy policy covers the BrowserOS web browser only and the way we collect, process, and store data as part of the service.
Why we collect data
We collect data in order to improve the BrowserOS web browser, to keep you up to date with the development of BrowserOS, and to send you an invitation to sign up to the service when it's ready.
The data we collect
We collect your name, email address, and the engagement you have with the product. This includes information about when you create workspaces, open pages, and view modals.
We do not track any identifying information linked to your web-activity (history, cookies, url of websites visited, workspace names, etc.) without your explicit consent. All of this information is stored locally on your computer.
Cloud syncing
You can decide to activate cloud syncing of your BrowserOS session so your activity is identical across different devices. Cloud syncing is deactivated by default.
If you choose to activate cloud syncing, your web-activity data (history, cookies, url of websites visited, workspace names, etc.) will be stored safely and encrypted in BrowserOS's servers.
This data is only used for the purposes of cloud syncing: restoring your session. These servers are powered by AWS (Amazon Web Services).
You may delete your data at any point by emailing us at [email protected] .
Third-party AI and LLM providers
BrowserOS integrates with third-party AI and large language model (LLM) providers to power features such as the AI agent, chat, and split-view. These providers may include, but are not limited to, Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini), Moonshot (Kimi), Fireworks, and others.
Default provider. BrowserOS may include a default AI provider at no additional cost to you. When you use the default provider, your prompts, messages, and any data you share with the AI feature are sent to that provider's servers. Your use of the default provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service, not solely by this privacy policy. BrowserOS does not control how third-party providers collect, store, process, or use data sent to their services. Some providers may log prompts, use data for model training, or retain data according to their own policies.
Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK). For maximum privacy and control, we strongly recommend using your own API key from the AI provider of your choice. When you bring your own API key, your prompts and data are sent directly from BrowserOS to the provider under your own API agreement with that provider. BrowserOS does not intercept, store, or log the content of your prompts or AI responses in either case.
What BrowserOS does and does not do. BrowserOS acts as a client that transmits your requests to the AI provider you select. We do not:
Your responsibility. We encourage you to review the privacy policy and terms of service of any AI provider you use through BrowserOS. If privacy is a primary concern, bringing your own API key and selecting a provider whose privacy terms meet your needs is the best option. You can also use a locally-hosted model (such as Ollama or LM Studio), in which case no data leaves your device.
Global transfer and processing
Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we operate, or where other companies provide services to us. By submitting your personal information, you're agreeing to let us store it in, and transfer it to these countries.
Software
We use Segment as the service provider in order to collect data. We then use different services to analyse this data:
The way these softwares store and process your data is subject to their Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Data retention
We'll keep your data for the purpose of sending you updates until either we decide to stop sending updates, or you ask us to delete your data by getting in touch at [email protected] .
Your marketing preferences
When you sign up for the BrowserOS web browser, you are opting in to receive updates on our product by email. You can opt out of these email communications at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any message we send to you, or by contacting us at [email protected] .
Your rights
Under data protection regulation, you have:
Making a rights request
